Letter from tom after finding lost keys. Dec. 15th 05
After reading last Sundays(Dec.11) magazine article in the Tribune about the MHRS and specifically metal detectors, I immediately went online and found out about your organization. I then called Ron Guinazzo and stated my predicament. You see, I lost two sets of keys that fell out of a hole that was in my jacket pocket, while I was snowblowing my sidewalks at my apartment building. To my surprise, Ron said he could meet me at 7:30am the next day to try and find them with his metal detector. Bingo!, Ron found the first set of keys. Ron searched relentlessly for the other set to no avail. As Ron had another appointment, I thanked him and he was on his way. For your information Ron, I found the second set of keys ten minutes after you left my building. I went to the rear of the building and found them under the stairs outside the back door. After shoveling out so me more snow and leaves, lo and behold, there they were. I can't tell you how happy and relieved I am to actually be in possession of them again. I thought I would have to wait until the spring to possibly find them, if at all. Ron, I want thank you again for your thoughtfulness, time and effort. For someone that you never met in your life, to volunteer your time to help me in a time of need, I am truly grateful. The MHRS must have some wonderful men and women in the organization if their passion for metal detecting is anything like yours. This was an early Christmas present to me, and a good story with a happy ending. Maybe someday I will nurture a interest in metal detecting and be honored to be a member of MHRS. Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a happy and healthy 2006! Happy metal detecting, Tom O'Brien

LLOYD TATMAN returns a 1993 high school ring lost in 1992 ( before graduation )
My ring was lost in a lake in 1992 while enjoying a day of fun swimming, a typical day except for the disagreement I had with my mother who was trying to discourage me from wearing it. She had a feeling I would lose the ring in the lake, well mothers are always right. My mother received a call in May 2005,stating that you had found it , I was in complete shock I couldn't believe after 13 years I was going to be reunited with my ring.
I want to thank you so much for returning it. This ring had been written off a long time ago.seeing my class ring again was a dream that I once had, I just assumed it was part of the lake forever! You occasionally hear of these stories but never think it could happen to you.
God bless you and your family!
Sincerly, Jennifer T.
